Scholarships
Each year COMPACT awards 10 - 20 deserving seniors
college scholarships ranging from $300.00 to $3,750.00. Scholarships
are awarded based on grades; improvement in grades, attendance;
behavior; extra curricular activities; letters of recommendation;
and community service.
The highest award ($3,750.00) is the Lee Norris Rayam Scholarship
which pays $1,500.00 for the first year and $750.00 for the next
three years. It is named in honor of the late Mr. Lee Norris
Rayam, a COMPACT consultant and motivational speaker, a community activist and a staunch
mentor. The Lee Norris Rayam Scholarship recipients for 2007 are Ruth Joseph of Dr. Phillips
High School and Yasmina George of Jones High School. Ms. Joseph will attend Valencia
Community College before continuing her education at the University of South Florida, while Ms.
George will begin her college education at the University of Central Florida
University of Central Florida.
